Course description
Our Product Photography course is aimed at enthusiasts and those intending to earn from their photography.
The course will begin by looking at the various types of lighting techniques used for product photography. These techniques include using a ring flash for macro photography, lighting evenly on a white surface to avoid shadows, photographing highly reflective objects using black light and finally, balancing two light sources for larger objects.
As well as learning techniques the group will discuss what the techniques are best used for, such as photographing jewellery or lighting for print and the web. In the afternoon, the group will look at basic compositions for product photography, to show various products in challenging perspectives. For these exercises participants will use materials such as invisible string, glass and reflective surfaces, which will aid their compositions. Participants are encouraged to bring along an object to photograph and by the end of this course, each participant will go away with the knowledge and confidence to start building a portfolio.
Topics covered
This course is aimed at beginners and intermediate photographers alike. No prior studio experience is necessary although a good understanding of exposure and how to operate your camera manually is required.
